Losing Eden von Charys Wilson
Die Lichtinstallationen der irischen Künstlerin Charys Wilson erforschen Wege der Illusion, der Mimikry und des Schattens, während sie gleichzeitig eine kontemplative Zeit für die Wertschätzung der in unserem täglichen Leben häufig übersehenen Aspekte der Natur ermöglichen. Für die Ausstellung bei Berlin-Weekly hat sie den Raum in ein Gewächshaus verwandelt, das mit Pflanzen gefüllt ist, die sie aus recycelten Materialien hergestellt hat. In unserer Zeit der Klimakrise ist das Gewächshaus sowohl ein Symbol für die zerstörerische Kraft der Menschheit und die globale Erwärmung als auch für unsere Fähigkeit, die natürliche Welt zu hegen und zu pflegen. Die Ausstellung ist kuratiert von Anna Ratcliffe.

Charys Wilson is a visual artist from Northern Ireland who aims to rekindle the viewer’s curiosity in the natural world. Wilson’s light installations explore ways of illusion, mimicry and shadow, while allowing a contemplative time for appreciation of aspects of nature often overlooked in our daily lives. For the exhibition at Berlin-Weekly, she has transformed the space into a greenhouse filled with plants that she has created from recycled materials. In our time of climate crisis, the greenhouse acts as both a symbol of humanity’s destructive power and global warming, as well as our ability to nurture and care for the natural world. The exhibition is curated by Anna Ratcliffe.
