The installation MONOLITH by the Berlin-based artist Marc von der Hoch presents a light object specially designed for the Berlin Weekly window. Like the previous work of the artist, his installation contains elements taken from design and architecture. Everyday objects, as they are often found here in Berlin as bulky waste on the streets: printer covers, ventilation grids, CD stands, foot and rubber mats, car and bicycle parts, etc. These found objects are joined together and merged with various sources of light, distorted and broken, to create a new object in its own right . The geometric shape of Monolith refers to the omnipresent presence of the cube in our cityscape, characterized by the central perspective and from right angles, while the black figure alludes to the mythical meaning of a monolith.
