The Texture of the Sea ist eine mediale Installation, die sich mit der Beschaffenheit des Meeres befasst. Das Meer ist hierbei Element und Körper, Materie und Kosmos. The Texture of the Sea erkundet den Lebensraum voller unbekannter Phämomene, welche in der Morphologie der gezeigten Meerestiere Gestalt finden, bis in die feinstofflichen Ebenen. Die Arbeit ist Teil der Werkreihe The White Sea Cycle, die im Zuge mehrerer Arbeitsaufenthalte Grenzhaeusers auf der meeresbiologischen Forschungsstation WSBS Kartesh in Karelien, Russland, entstanden sind.

The Texture of the Sea by Nathalie Grenzhaeuser is a media installation that deals with the texture of the marine realm. Here the sea is element and body, matter and cosmos. The Texture of the Sea explores the habitat full of unknown phenomena that take shape in the morphology of the sea creatures shown, down to the subtle levels. The work is part of the series The White Sea Cycle, which was created in the course of Grenzhaeuser´s several working stays at the White Sea Biological Station Kartesh, in Karelia, Russia.
