DIE KÖNIGIN von Alex Lebus 2021
Tischlerplatte, Möbellinoleum (Farben: Iron/ash), Bronze, Klavierband 315 x 290 x 270 cm

Deine.

THE QUEEN by Alex Lebus 2021Blockboard, furniture linoleum (colours: iron/ash), bronze, piano hinge 315 x 290 x 270 cm

The Queen is a copy of the federal eagle logo of the German Bundestag. The most important and striking difference is only that the feathers of the bird are no longer where they should be. The eagle has lost its wings and wears its tail as a crown. The body’s linoleum train is in the colour IRON, while the colour for the feathers is ASH. The wings of the queen are movable and can be folded in and out by piano hinges. The eagle, which suggests masculinity and dominance, has become a crowned chicken without feathers.chicken – thus female and a queen. On the breast of the large bird is a bronze that is a miniature of the featherless queen herself.

I am the queen.
I am the shadow of an eagle and its mother.
I have no tail, only a crown of ashes.
All greatness I carry in my heart.
I have forgotten how to fly.
Truncated and pruned, I look from state to circumstance and stay because I must.
I look only in one direction, but point in both, the prize of the chocolate side.
Once I was a bird – now I am a chicken.
And whose queen am I?
Yours.
