RAW MEDIA COMPETENCE von Iréne Hug, 2023
Die Installation Raw Media Competence von Iréne Hug besteht aus Teilen von gefundenen ehemaligen Werbeschriften. Schrift als eines der ältesten Medien thematisiert sich hier selbst in plastischen Buchstaben in verschiedenen Formen in dem Rohzustand, wie sie gefunden wurden. Die neue räumliche Anordnung der 3dimensionalen, erleuchteten Schriftzeichen ergibt neue Worte und damit einen neuen Text und eine neue Bedeutung: Raw Media Competence. Ein ironischer Hinweis darauf, dass angesichts der Komplexität und Vielfalt der neuen sowie alten Medien, unsere Medienkompetenz eher rudimentär ist.

The installation Raw Media Competence by Irene Hug consists of parts of found former advertising typefaces. Writing as one of the oldest media thematizes itself here in sculptural letters in various forms in the raw state as they were found. The new spatial arrangement of the 3-dimensional, illuminated characters results in new words and thus a new text and a new meaning: Raw Media Competence. An ironic reference to the fact that considering the complexity and diversity of new and old media, our media competence is rather rudimentary.
