Die Architekturmodelle vom Tempel, \u00fcber Kirche,&nbsp;Synagoge und Moschee bis zu einem Bank- und einem Museumsgeb\u00e4ude, sollen&nbsp;verdeutlichen, dass diese Geb\u00e4ude neben ihren religi\u00f6sen Funktionen vor allem&nbsp;Ausdruck wirtschaftlicher und kultureller Bedeutung sowie Nationalbewusstseins&nbsp;sind. Dar\u00fcber h\u00e4ngt ein einer Wandskulptur aus Kupfer aus seiner&nbsp;Serie \u2019Lisan al Arab\u2019, die einen aus G\u00fcrteln zusammengef\u00fcgten arabischen&nbsp;kalligraphischen&nbsp;Schriftzug darstellt, der als&nbsp;\u2019Kein&nbsp;Zwang im Glauben\u2019 \u00fcbersetzt werden kann und zum einen die&nbsp;\u00e4sthetische Sch\u00f6nheit der arabischen Kalligrafie in ihrem Ursprung&nbsp;widerspiegelt und zum anderen ihre als Bedrohung&nbsp;empfundene Konnotation im&nbsp;Zeitalter der Kriege, Gewalt und globaler Fluchtbewegungen. Der G\u00fcrtel&nbsp;symbolisiert f\u00fcr Baalbaki das Spannungsfeld zwischen staatlicher Macht und&nbsp;ihrem&nbsp;Machtverlust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>engl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The installation combines two works by Said Baalbaki: the architectural models made of black coal&nbsp;briquettes from his &#8218;Black Rock Series&#8216; stand on pedestals &#8211; they represent&nbsp;both a journey through the religious and architectural development of places of&nbsp;worship and an artistic exploration of the relationship between faith, art and&nbsp;coal (= money). The architectural&nbsp;models, ranging from a temple, church,&nbsp;synagogue and mosque to a bank and a museum building, are intended to&nbsp;illustrate that, in addition to their religious functions, these buildings are&nbsp;above all an expression of economic and cultural significance and national&nbsp;consciousness.<br \/>Above it&nbsp;hangs a copper wall sculpture from his &#8218;Lisan al Arab&#8216; series, which depicts an&nbsp;Arabic calligraphic lettering composed of belts, which can be&nbsp;translated as &#8218;No&nbsp;compulsion in faith&#8216; and reflects the aesthetic beauty of Arabic calligraphy in&nbsp;its origins on the one hand and its connotation as a threat in&nbsp;an age of wars,&nbsp;violence and global refugee movements on the other.
