Wo die rauen Kanten einer Salzschicht die Verwandlung von Wasser in Dampf visualisieren, ist das Palimpsest zur selben Zeit auch ein subtiler Prozess der Erhaltung und Konstruktion von historischer Erinnerung.<\/p>\n<p>Die Berliner Volksk\u00fcche befand sich im sp\u00e4ten 19. Jahrhundert bis zum fr\u00fchen 20. Jahrhundert in der Linienstra\u00dfe und wurde nicht nur als ein Mittel um Nahrung an Bed\u00fcrftigte bereitzustellen eingerichtet, sondern unterst\u00fctzte auch die Rolle der Frauen im Krieg. Diese Spuren werden hier durch eine zus\u00e4tzliche Schicht in den Raum der Linienstra\u00dfe 160 aufgenommen und in Erinnerung gerufen. Die Architektur dient somit als Kontur um einen anderen physikalischen Prozess zu umrei\u00dfen, sowie k\u00f6rperlicher und zeitlicher Natur.<\/p>\n<p>As a common additive to food, salt occurs in nature as residual process of evaporation. Where the jagged edges of a layer of salt leave a visualization of water&#8217;s disappearance into vapor, the palimpsest is also a subtle process of preservation and a construction of historical memory.<\/p>\n<p>The Berliner Volksk\u00fcche was located on Linienstra\u00dfe during the late 19th to early 20th century, founded not only as a means to provide food and sustenance to those in need but also support the role of women during war. Its traces are remembered here as a layer added to the space of Linienstra\u00dfe 160.
